The degree as conferred by 1167 was of an exceptionally high standard not withstanding that their deputation had been hit with a few last minute call offs - Brother Ian Rodgers was on the receiving end of a first class preferment.
The business of the evening being concluded the Brethren of both lodges sat down in harmony, enjoyed an excellent steak pie dinner and thereafter watched a video recording of the football on the large screen in the social club- thereby cementing the bond of friendship between the lodges.
Tuesday the 18th of March saw the lodge travel over to Barrhead to take up an invitation from lodge Union & Crown № 307 to confer the EA degree on one of their candidates. With twenty one (21) Brethren supporting the RWM Brother Alexander Stobo the Brethren of 242 were warmly welcomed in to the lodge room by the RWM of lodge 307 Brother David Watson
After the usual exchange of pleasantries and the mallet, the degree was duly conferred on their candidate in a most able and proficient manner, indeed Brother Peter Smolarek had the easiest night of his tenure in the office of DOC with not one prompt needed during the course of the entire degree. After the close of business the Brethren of both lodges retired to the adjacent to enjoy an hour or so in harmony.
Thursday 27th March saw the annual visitation from the Provincial Grand Lodge - headed on this occasion by the RW Sub PGM Brother Andrew Hosie. The purpose of the visit was to review the records and proceedings of the lodge held over the course of the past 12 months and to confirm that the workings of the lodge were carried out in accordance with the laws and constitution of the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
In reply to the kind sentiments expressed by Brother Andrew in his report to the lodge, Brother Brian Smolarek our IPM humbly thanked Brother Andrew for the “clear minute“afforded to the lodge and thanked the Brethren of the lodge for their invaluable support in his tenure as RWM of lodge 242.
During the course of the meeting Brother David Hunter was presented with his certificate of affiliation by the RWM brother Alex Stobo.
