Celebrating 100 Editions of the Cross Keys !
January 2006 marks a mile stone in the history of the Cross Keys in so much that it represents a time when we publish the 100th edition of the lodge newsletter started out by Brother Grant Macleod way back in June of 1994.
Back then, Brother Grant had no idea that the humble one page newsletter he produced would grow in to the monthly journal it has become through the passage of time .
When it was 1st issued it didn’t even have a name , it was called the 242 Monthly till it was renamed the Cross Keys in September 1998.
It remained a one page publication till it was changed to a small 4 page newsletter on the occasion of the 50th edition being printed in February of 2000.
In May of 2004 the Cross Keys joined the information highway and was sent out in electronic format to around 20 or so brethren of the lodge, today , through the tongue of good report that number has risen to approximately 150 Brethren world wide with the Cross Keys reaching all four corners of the globe.
The Cross Keys was born out of an idea first raised in the social club after a regular meeting of the lodge by the then senior office bearers of the lodge as a means by which the Brethren of the lodge could be kept informed of the workings within it and to offer some kind of Masonic education to the Brethren, an ideal which we will continue to strive to attain in the coming years . Brother Grant by his sterling efforts during the course of the past 11 years has well and truly filled that remit .
Grant . On behalf of the Brethren of the Lodge … Thank You !
The Cross Keys
The Cross Keys , although primarily a newsletter for the Brethren of lodge Houstoun St Johnstone, will be sent out on request to any Brother of any lodge, providing they can prove themselves to be “worthy” of receiving it.
